“Blau ist mein rotes Zimmer” is the title of our new exhibition featuring the works of artist Hüseyin Işik. The artist’s first solo exhibition in the gallery  twenty-six offers a fascinating insight into Işik’s world.

Through the fusion of painting and graphic art, the artist explores themes such as migration, identity and intercultural dialog.

Born in Eastern Anatolia around 1961, the artist first published his own caricatures in a magazine at the age of fifteen and later studied at the Istanbul University of Applied Arts.

Due to the political events in Turkey from 1980 onwards, Isik emigrated to Austria in 1988. He spent 15 years in Vienna and later moved to Zurndorf, where he still lives and works today. The political events of his time and Isik’s personal experiences are reflected in his works.

In his series “B10”, Işik uses bold and daring color combinations that address changes in the landscape caused by infrastructure projects such as the A4. These works are a poignant reflection on the evolving environment and its impact on the people who inhabit it.

One of the highlights of our exhibition is Işik’s work “The Blue Room”, which illustrates the combination of painterly and graphic elements. Despite the reduction of his color palette, Hüseyin Isik manages to reveal a variety of designs and motifs.  By using acrylic and oil paints on canvas, the artist takes the viewer on an introspective journey through colors and forms. Hüseyin Işik is known for his expressive approach to art. In this case, he uses the color blue as a metaphor for renewal and eternity.

The artist’s “memories”, captured through oil on canvas, are another prominent feature of the exhibition. The works are based on autobiographical experiences of persecution and migration and reflect themes such as identity, borders, discrimination and human rights in an impressive way. Isik himself states: “Empty white sheets prepare the new life. But first they turn blue. Only this blue opens the door to eternity.

We cordially invite you to be inspired by the diversity and depth of Hüseyin Işik’s art and to embark on a journey through his works, in which both the artist’s personal experiences and universal themes can be explored.
