Maroon was born in Armenia and spent his early years living in several countries across Asia, before relocating to Austria during his formative years. Growing up between multiple cultural environments has deeply shaped his visual language, blending emotional depth with intuitive storytelling.
Initially trained in fashion, he developed an acute sense for color combinations, harmony, and composition a sensitivity that seamlessly transitioned into his artistic practice. Further studies in Innovation and Creativity expanded his conceptual approach, allowing him to experiment freely across styles and techniques. His vivid color palettes are shaped by a synthesis of influences: an early background in fashion, personal history, emotional memory, and the immediacy of the present moment. Each work becomes a meeting point where past experiences and present emotions converge on the canvas, allowing color and form to carry both the weight of memory and the rawness of the now.
Working primarily with acrylics, oil paint, oil pastels, and mixed media on canvas, his process unfolds in intense, often nocturnal studio sessions, driven by emotional surges and inner tension. The canvas becomes a playground for subconscious narratives, where feelings, thoughts, and energy find their rawest expression. Layers of vibrant pigments collide with impulsive brushstrokes, gestural marks, and spontaneous lines, telling stories of repetition, erasure, rediscovery, and transformation.
Recurring figures emerge: hybrid creatures, symbolic fragments, surreal faces, hands, and eyes, oscillating between the playful and the unsettling. The imagery resists clear categorization; instead, it invites viewers into an open dialogue, offering emotional access points without prescribing meaning. Each viewer is free to project their own narratives into the vivid, sometimes chaotic, sometimes delicate compositions.
Bold neons meet muted pastels. Violent gestures clash with subtle transparencies. The works balance between abstract expressionism, neo-surrealism, and raw emotional energy always allowing space for the irrational, the spontaneous and the instinctive.
