Ingeborg Matula was born in Vienna in 1952 and due to starting a family early and her professional career, her creative work took a back seat for a long time.
Her interest in painting remained. For Matula, painting is a form of exploration – with motifs, forms, colours and expression. She is particularly interested in portraits, often as cut-outs or detailed studies. In addition, Ingeborg Matula works with landscapes, nature and flower motifs, still lifes and nudes. One series of works shows flowers in high magnification – the focus is on their interior, their structure and colourfulness.
Her works are often based on her own photographs. For Matula, the combination of photography and painting is an exciting interplay of observation and interpretation. Art can be surprising, thought-provoking and open up new perspectives.
