Artist

Nicolas Lehnert

Born in 1996 in of Vienna, Austria, Nicolas Lehnert has emerged as a compelling voice in the contemporary digital art scene. His work represents a sophisticated bridge between the classical traditions of European portraiture and the limitless possibilities of the digital age. Based in Vienna, Lehnert has cultivated a global presence, with his work showcased in exhibitions across Austria, France, and Greece.

Lehnert’s artistic practice is rooted in a distinctive “Digital Painting” style that challenges the viewer’s perception of the medium. Although his tools are entirely digital, his compositions possess a tangible, tactile quality, often characterized by impressionistic textures and a depth of light usually reserved for oil on canvas.

This juxtaposition of modern technology and timeless aesthetic creates a “Neo-Classical” atmosphere, where figures are imbued with both a historic elegance and a sharp, metropolitan edge.

Central to Lehnert’s oeuvre is the exploration of the modern metropolis and the figures that inhabit it. His subjects—often elegant women captured in moments of quiet introspection—serve as icons of urban identity. Whether it is the striking contrast of a woman in a wide-brimmed hat holding a pug or the rhythmic, Art Deco-inspired profile of a lady with an Afghan hound, Lehnert’s work focuses on the intersection of fashion and personality. He uses clothing not merely as a garment, but as an architectural element that defines the character’s presence within the frame.

Lehnert’s palette is typically refined and atmospheric, favoring muted, earthy tones that are suddenly broken by bold, electric accents. The strategic use of vibrant reds—on a lip, a fingernail, or a glowing cigarette—serves as a visual heartbeat within his compositions, drawing the eye to the “poetry of the everyday.” Themes of reflection, fragmentation, and the tension between anonymity and presence run through his work, reflecting the psychological landscape of 21st-century city life.
