Born in Zagreb and based in Vienna, Ines´ artistic work combines painting and sculpture. With a background in engineering, management, and business administration, and over two decades of international executive experience, she pursued art as a faithful companion alongside her career. Embracing her unconventional path, she approaches art with a fresh perspective – unbound by frameworks yet deeply rooted in intellectual inquiry and emotional curiosity.
Ines’ artistic practice emerges from a deep engagement with abstraction as a space for exploring transformation in a broad sense. Sculptural elements sometimes extend her paintings beyond the two-dimensional plane, reflecting her desire to transform them into spatial compositions.
Often working in series, she examines the flexible nature of reality, the reality of time, and the interplay of presence and absence, of revealing and concealing. The theme of the ‘glass ceiling’ often appears in her depiction of ladders, which subtly accompany most of her work, as well as stones that ‘float’ – transformed into aesthetically delicate carriers of composition rather than metaphorical obstacles. She also explores the themes of vulnerability and subtlety – qualities that are decisive in ‘inspiriting’ any artwork or person. With a sense of determination expressed through intense layering and fragmentation, Ines purposely adds complexity, veils of ‘noise’, and material while transitioning between intensity and stillness. She invites reaching out to what lies beneath – untainted and with the quiet, open quality of silence.
“Abstraction works like poetry for me – allowing for the layering of ‘verses in colors’ to reveal and hide, to scream and whisper. The outcome and its meaning are no longer my artwork, but a dialogue and relationship in which we now are”.
